Prime Minister Narendra Modi recently highlighted the growing success of the PM Surya Ghar: Muft Bijli Yojana in Tripura during his monthly radio programme Mann Ki Baat.
Speaking in the latest episode, the Prime Minister emphasized how the scheme is transforming lives in the North-East, with a special focus on Tripura. He noted that solar energy is emerging as a reliable and sustainable power source, especially in remote and tribal regions.
Transforming Lives Through Solar Energy
Officials from the Tripura Renewable Energy Development Agency (TREDA) expressed pride over the recognition. According to the agency, the scheme has significantly improved the quality of life for tribal communities by providing access to clean and affordable electricity.
The adoption of rooftop solar systems under the scheme has not only reduced dependency on conventional electricity but has also empowered households with energy independence.
Boost to Renewable Energy Efforts
The acknowledgement by the Prime Minister is seen as a strong endorsement of Tripura’s efforts in promoting renewable energy solutions. Officials stated that this recognition reflects the continuous work being done to expand solar infrastructure across the state.
A Model for Sustainable Development
The success of the scheme in Tripura is now being viewed as a model for other states, particularly in regions with difficult terrain and limited access to traditional power grids.
The PM Surya Ghar Yojana, launched to provide affordable solar power to households, continues to play a key role in India’s transition towards clean and sustainable energy.
